Request a Workshop
The Career Center seeks to be your partner in the education of students. We offer a variety of workshops related to career and professional development, and we will work closely with you to customize workshop content to best meet your needs. The Career Center's staff can even come to your classroom if a situation occurs and you would otherwise need to cancel class.
Workshops are available in multiple formats: in-person, virtually, or pre-recorded.
Integrating Career Development into Your Classroom
Discover how The Career Center can help you incorporate career and professional development into your curriculum. We will assist you in creating assignments or develop classroom activities that best meet the needs of your students. The customized activities will help your students define their career goals, articulate skills, and develop their job search materials.
Feel free to add our office's information to your syllabus as a resource!
Be mindful of limited services when assignments require a student to use our various services. Some examples include scheduled drop-in hours, and limits per semester on online reviews (4 per student) and on mock interviews (1 per student).
Please let us know about assignments in advance, especially when anticipating a large number of students.
Interview Assignments
Faculty are encouraged to use The Career Center’s mock interview resources to support the interview training and professional development that is implemented in the classroom or with students more generally.
The Career Center can assist with interview assignments and practice for students through live mock interviews with a coach and through Big Interview, a web-based interviewing program.
Big Interview is preferred for large lecture classes due to limited resources and interviewer availability. Features include:
- Create an assignment in Big Interview where student responses can be reviewed and evaluated by the instructor.
- Add Big Interview as resource on a class syllabus.
- Choose pre-recorded interview questions from hundreds of industries.
Resume, Cover Letter, and LinkedIn Assignments
The Career Center can provide reviews of each of these document types, and we would be happy to collaborate on review assignments. There are multiple methods students may utilize.
Reviews can be conducted in a pre-scheduled appointment with a career coach, or during our drop-in review hours. Each of these provides a face-to-face review with immediate feedback to the student.
Resume and cover letters may additionally be reviewed through our online review service. Students submit a document and receive an asynchronous review with feedback provided within 3-5 business days.
Proof of these reviews can be easily provided to the student if required for their assignment. Appointments and drop-in reviews provide a signed physical document. Online reviews provide an annotated PDF and an auto-generated email.
