Campus and Community Jobs
Any job can develop your professional skills. A part-time job is a great way to gain experience while also building your professional portfolio.

Campus Jobs
There are many student employment opportunities on campus. The Virtual Job Board hosted by the Office of Financial Aid, Handshake @ Illinois, and the Research Park Job Board are great places to start. Some on-campus positions may require eligibility for federal work study, but not all.
Student jobs are often filled by word-of-mouth. If you are seeking a campus job, be sure to ask your faculty members, academic advisors, TAs, and others about any positions they may know of. Think about departments that hire large numbers of students and check their websites to see how you can apply for their positions.

Local Part-time Jobs
Many employers in the Champaign-Urbana community hire students for part-time positions. These positions can be found on Handshake @ Illinois, in local newspapers, or by visiting places of business that have posted "Help Wanted" signs.
